The McKinley represents a beautifully developed 3-acre area nestled in the heart of downtown Prosper, specifically designed to enhance and strengthen community ties among residents. This vibrant space offers a warm and friendly, small-town atmosphere that encourages interaction and engagement. With a strong focus on walking, it promotes health and well-being while accommodating a variety of family activities. Furthermore, The McKinley is enhanced by numerous features that cater to shopping, dining, and hosting live events, making it a hub for community gathering and enjoyment.
Entering The McKinley, you are immediately drawn to the inviting congregation space that features a beautifully covered canopy and a well-designed performance stage. This thoughtfully created space evokes the charm of historic Texas towns of old, reminiscent of a traditional town square; a square that serves as a versatile backdrop for seasonal festivities, holiday gatherings, and everyday celebrations or simply a pleasant spot to unwind after a day of shopping. The expansive canopy provides much-needed shade and comfort to visitors during the harshest times of the day, particularly in the late afternoon, enabling enjoyable activities even into those balmy late August days.
The client expressed a desire for a clearly delineated entrance that would function effectively as a wayfinder, thereby facilitating much easier access for visitors into the site. We successfully achieved this by drawing inspiration from the vernacular forms commonly found in rural Texas, incorporating appealing elements such as vibrant red brick and distinct western motifs that reflect the local culture. This thoughtful design ensures that the entry gate is not only easily noticeable to those approaching but also serves as a recognizable and welcoming landmark for the local community, enhancing both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
